As a teenager I began taking photos on a little 35 mm camera, of my brother and sister and views on our dairy farm above the bluffs in Nelson. Each image chosen for the tour stands on its own merit of beauty or the story it tells. (A picture is worth a thousand words!) I've got some great pictures from traveling, but most for this show come from my back yard: the Hetrick farm, Thrive Park and nearby places. My photos are unaltered--no color enhancement or cropping. The light from the sun does its dance around objects in nature and sometimes adds surprises beyond what I noticed when snapping the shot. I value composition, color and detail. My favorite camera is an old Yashika that I found used in the early nineties. Occasionally a disposable camera does the trick. My cell phone is most convenient when I'm hiking with my dog, Blair, (often the subject of portraits) and an image strikes me.
